I KNOWWWWW. WE NEED TO TALK
YES, YES WE DO. THIS WEEKEND?
wait, is montmaray ‘a brief history of montmaray’? because someone gave me that book recently, and it’s been sitting on my bedside table because I was unsure how good it was. Should I go for it?
YES IT IS. I realllly really liked it! The first one starts out a little bit slow, but it picks up by the end, and the second one (The FitzOsbornes in Exile) is one of my favorite books I’ve read so far this year. IMPOVERISHED EXILED TEENAGE PRINCESSES. Machiavelli disguised as a debutante. A boy king who might be in love with his cousin. I really just love all of the main characters and their relationships with each other. I thought it was a wonderful book!
So yes, I SAY GO FOR IT! If you so choose ;)
hondagirll replied to your post: When I see other people on the subway reading…
You should! I do it all the time at work. Books, movies, tv shows. Sometimes i think working in a library isn’t half bad!
I ALMOST DID TONIGHT. A guy sitting across from me was reading A Storm of Swords and I just wanted to hand him some tissues and say, “Trust me. YOU’LL NEED THESE LATER.”
hondagirll replied to your post: I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN IN MY LIFE.
I read 19 and I thought that was a bit much. But granted one of those was the steve jobs biography and that was like 4 books in one pagewise. :D
19 is an amazing number!! and yesss, i remember you reading that steve jobs book. i’m working my way through atlas grace now, and pat of silver bush (it’s distressing to me how i’m not into this one yet). and i’m going to start pickwick papers this weekend. so february should be a slower month. i have got to do other things. i swear.

Wait what
hahahaha, i know. i’m ridiculous.
(how are you!? hiiiii!)

Me neither. For some reason my mom wouldn’t let me. LOL.
I don’t think my mom wanted me to read them, either, but that was one instance where she didn’t even have to fight me on it. I was really just never interested, LOL! At the point when the kids in my class were reading BSC, I was definitely reading Ann Rinaldi and starting on the classics.

eh, they were okay. I read them when I was maybe seven? and then quickly moved onto Austen, lol.
A girl after my own heart! Hee. Although I didn’t read P&P until I was 13 or 14. At that point, I had already attempted Les Mis (and made it about halfway through before finally having to give it up — admirable, I think, as I was only 10 at the time, LOL).
hondagirll replied to your post: hondagirll replied to your post: 50. I have never…
Hahahaha, I’m just teasing. And btw, the Boxcar Children? Good choice. I swear I’ve read all those books in the series. Although it annoyed me that the later books reverted the kids back to their original ages.
Hee, I know! ;) Boxcar Children = SO GREAT. I don’t think I’ve read some of the later books, but I know I’ve read at least 50-60 of them. I think it’s been nominated for Yuletide in the past. Not this year, but MAYBE ANOTHER YEAR…
forthesky replied to your post: 50. I have never read a single Babysitter’s Club book.
I conversely own basically the entire series. It’s the closest I have to a full collection of anything.
I have lots of complete series of books! But none quite as long as BSC, I think.
harriethayes replied to your post: 50. I have never read a single Babysitter’s Club book.
haha. I read a lot but I read anything I could get my hands on at that age that was above my reading level. I think I skipped the beginner chapter books entirely.
Hahaha, yes! The ones with about 20-25 pages in them? I only read those when I had to for school! *high five* I think most people read them, I just missed that particular trend, lol.
hondagirll replied to your post: 50. I have never read a single Babysitter’s Club book.
YOU ARE A AWFUL HUMAN BEING. YOU ARE BANNED FROM PLANET EARTH.
STEPHHHHHHHHH. NOOOOOOOOOOO. I HAVE READ MANY WONDERFUL BOOKS. JUST NOT THOSE. :( (<3 ILU)
iloveplotbunnies replied to your post: 50. I have never read a single Babysitter’s Club book.
I’ve read maybe two…I honestly was never impressed with them…
I was really into mysteries and historical fiction. Lots of Nancy Drew, Boxcar Children, Bobbsey Twins. When I got a little bit older, Ann Rinaldi. Also, ~classic series like Narnia, Little House, Anne of Green Gables, and Betsy-Tacy. I read plenty of other things, too. But I never made it to BSC.
beneathpyramids replied to your post: 50. I have never read a single Babysitter’s Club book.
oh man. i’m the complete opposite. i used to own a shitload of those books!
I really should get a few from the library and read them, just so I am ~informed! ;) I do, however, still own basically all of my Boxcar Children books!

ITA.
A few things I would have liked*, but overall, I ENJOYED QUITE A BIT.
*Specifically the name of the third brother and some confirmation as to their order, although it’s pretty set that Tommy can’t be the youngest at this point.
hondagirll replied to your post
What show are you talking about? Do I watch it? And if I don’t, should I be?
The Mentalist, no you don’t, and yes you should be. BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME :-P
oh my god. please take care of yourself. get fluids and some rest. crackers or toast
I have saltines and ginger ale right now, and there are five different places within a two block radius of my office that have soups. So I should be set. This happens to me when I’ve been sick sometimes, so I’m pretty good at dealing with it.
prettytragicthings replied to your postWHAT?!!! Oh my gosh, are you okay?!
I am, thanks bb! Not quite myself, but it’s been almost five hours now so I’m feeling a lot better than I did <3
hondagirll replied to your postOh sweetie. When you get sick, you really get sick, huh? *hugs and Kleenex* I hope you feel better. Rest today!
I’m gonna try to take it easy, even at work. But I do have some stuff I really need to get in to deal with today, so I am going downtown in a few. I just want to give myself a few minutes to let the crackers settle on my stomach.
what fandom my dear? (i.e. what show should I watch next?)
I love that that’s your real question. I was looking for book fic earlier (you need to read Divergent!), for a couple of different things I’ve been reading.
But you should start Farscape (HAVE YOU? HAVE YOU?) and also watch Suits (Ginna Torres! Sarah Rafferty! The boys are unnecessary, I would watch a show about Jessica and Donna) and Haven and … other things. BASICALLY, COME QUIT REAL LIFE AND WATCH ALL THE SHOWS WITH ME. K?
